Despite their size, I think they're slowly forming a plan.

Advanced Photography 101 Submission for
*Ex-po-zure

1. Taken outdoors.
2. It was a sunny day out, windy as usual (Oklahoma).
3. It was taken at 5:12 P.M., though it says it was in the morning in the data. I hadn't changed the time yet. At the time evening came sooner and I love the lighting as the sun sets.
4. I use a Nikon D40X with a 60mm f/2.8D AF Micro-Nikkor (macro lens, NIkon names things funnily)lens.
No tripod, though it's suggested for macro.
5. I had my camera setting on S (shutter priority) and my iso was set to 200.
Focal lenght at 60mm. 25/10000th (1/400th) a second shutter speed, F/5.0.
6. I'm not really a person who knows about post processing with programs like Photoshop. I use the standard PictureProject program that came with my camera and I used photoshop to add my title and name. I didn't have to do much to the picture either. I just sharpened the image slightly. I also added just a slight bit of color to help the green come out little bit more. But it's basically a relatively short post process for me that took me less than 5 minutes.

I'm a big fan of minimalism in a lot of what I do other than photography, so it's just something that naturally comes out for me. I do know that a lot of people suggest that people use a tripod when shooting macro photography. I use a tripod inside but when I go outside I rarely use a tripod. The first reason is that it's generally always windy in Oklahoma. With my 60mm macro lens, I have to be pretty close to the object that I want to capture. So when shooting insects it can become a pain shooting at that length with a tripod. I'm also go fishing a lot so I'm carrying around fishing poles, tackle, and various other things and I never feel like carrying my tripod. /end rant

That's everything for me. I hope this helps some people thinking about macro photography. It was definitely interesting to think about how everything comes out in the end. I just kind of go on autopilot in some of the processes of taking a picture.

I'd also like to thank Shawn ,=mrcool256, for suggesting this as a DD. He's been a good friend over the year or two that I've known him.

There is also a slight surreal look to this one that makes me feel like I've entered a mini wonderland while viewing... which for any macro shot should be one of the main goals; great stuff." I've been trying out different patches of moss over the past week and I was never really happy with any of them but I do like the way this one came out. There actually maybe an older shot that I might put up. But I dunno.

Awesome lighting and depth of field :)

I love shooting in the evening when the sun's going down. And yes it's a very nifty dof. I dunno if other macro lenses are like this one or not but the view is very narrow as far as getting something clear.
